El Jaguar de las Sombras Live Performance by ENEMIGO
Marc Bruckner Percussionist
Northern Mexico's urban warfare shaped the Enemy's sonic constitution.
The audience at Angewandte will experience a rendition of hermetic counterculture; an invocation of Tezcatlipoca under a lifelong process of eliminating the self, cutting one’s own head as soon as it grows back, deafening, muting and blinding ending the thirst. The voice with all its scars, the use of torture sounds, Tracheal gasping, decapitations and asphyxia as distortion and overdrive effects. A filtering of all this death into the creative process, using creation as transmutation of grime and invoke co-responsibility for the listener.
Enemigo has performed globally for two decades in Switzerland, the U.K., Germany, Mexico, Canada the US and Spain; taking the soundtrack of urban warfare of the Mexican North across the Atlantic, and returning the mirrors that were exchanged for land.
Enemigo dedicates this performance to the torn bodies, the captured consciousnesses, and the prisoners worldwide. Inhumanity is Sacred.
